Takeout Option: Chand Palace

Takeouts. There's so many of them, but by the time you choose one that suits everyone, you could have cooked a 5-course menu.

Here's a new feature on Words of Wismom: Takeout Options. They could be handy when you've exhausted all the options in your fridge or your newborn is napping and you don't want to go out. The bigger kids get to try new food while you can breathe out of your Spanx after a long day at work. Like anything, moderation is key of course.

The pani puri appetizer (left), aloo ghobi cauliflower and potato (right) and hot onion uthappam (centre) were part of a meal that made dining at Chand Palace a pleasure from start to finish.

First stop is one of our fave Indian places in Parc Extension: Chand Palace. I was 8-month pregnant with our second child when we moved to our current home and while unpacking boxes for a week, we tried about 4-5 Indian restaurants on the Jean-Talon strip between Acadie and Querbes. Chand Palace came out the clear winner for a good quality-price ratio. Now, we each have our favorite pick, it takes about 15 minutes for our order to get ready, a quick walk to pick it up and get the appetite going and voilĂ , dinner is served Mesdames et Messieurs.

W.O.W. Tip: It was a little spicy for the kids at first. We gave them a small portion of butter chicken or chicken korma with rice and naan bread and a big glass of milk or water. Then the day after, we gave them again a small portion and so on. They got used to it and now our 2 years old eats his curry like a champ.
