It's only been two days and the new routine taught me a few things already on how to be more efficient so we can sit back and enjoy the game. Here's a list of helpful tricks.
- Buy the equipment a few weeks ahead to get your child familiar with it;
- Label everything. You can get customized labels or do it the last-minute way like me with a Sharpie the night before while watching the playoffs;
- Get a big bottle of water ready;
- Prepare snacks for the whole family. Games are early in the day so you might have to rush out the door before getting used to the new routine. My husband and I both ate our breakfast during the warm-up this morning. I didn't even have time to brush my hair and wore the same outfit than yesterday's game (freshly cleaned from last night of course);
- Bring your camera to discover your new talent in sports photography;
- Don't forget hats and sunscreen;
- Bring a blanket or chairs;
- Bring distraction toys for your other kids, get them involved so they don't feel left out;
- Last but not least, go to the bathroom before you leave home. Public bathrooms are a rarity on these fields and you don't want to miss a minute of the game!
