FAMILY NEST TOUR: FAMILY AND DINING ROOMS

Continuing on with the Before Tour are the dining and living rooms.

Both rooms are quite spacious and have big windows. If you can't see the windows, they're hiding behind the metallic vertical blinds. That's right, metallic. vertical. blinds.

This is the tired-looking beige fireplace with some shelves on the front wall. Floors seemed ok at first but they had lots of nails and holes in them and cracked a lot.

This is looking at the front of the house. The valance and blinds gave the room a dark and heavy feel.

This is standing near the fireplace and looking towards the front door. Great natural light.

This is looking towards the hallway. Behind that big wall is the kitchen.

That same big wall leads to the dining room. More vertical blinds.

Metallic blinds and glass blocks. Yay or Nay?

Our vision:
- New light-colored hardwood floors that don't crack. We couldn't wait to be able to tiptoe out of the kids rooms without waking them up. Great investment for parents of light sleepers;
- Get rid of the vertical blinds and install modern roller shades that can let the natural light in and give us some privacy at the same time;
- Revamp the fireplace and the shelves next to it. It will be the perfect spot to read magazines;
- Remove the glass blocks and install a new window;
- Open up the kitchen to the dining and living rooms so we can all be together all day, all nite!
- In 3 words: spacious. comfy. luminous;
