SUMMER KICK-OFF

School ended last week, which means it's officially summer!

The last couple of weeks flew by so quickly. 
We were running around with end-of-year recitals at both daycare and school,

the spring semester activities ending and the last-minute shopping for teachers' gifts.

On their last day of school, the kids got to play on inflatable games, which made me realize

how our definition of the beginning of summer has made a full circle now that we're parents.

To the dads who take care of the morning and/or evening routine, 

To the dads who get involved in parents committees, 

To the dads who stay home while the moms go to work, 

To the dads who work hard to be more involved in their children's lives, 

To the bosses and co-workers who let the dads go home early to pick-up the kids without judging, 

To the parents who support their children in their new dad role, 

To the moms who let the dads get fully involved, 

Thank you for helping make 'Engaged Fatherhood' the 'new normal'.

Expect the unexpected

The fun (or challenge) with traveling is dealing with the unexpected events that come at you. Add children to the recipe and your patience and stress management are tested to a whole new level.

As an example ( or inspiration), here's a recap of our flight from Montreal to Honolulu. 
A trip full of detours and surprises, and that took us 24 hours to get to destination. 
We felt like we were in an episode of the show 24 or on the Amazing Race, the Family Edition.

I'm very excited to start a new feature called 'Take the Kids', 
where I get to share with you my travel tips & guides, for small and big family trips 

I believe it is never too early to travel with your kids
 and hopefully our experiences (bad and good) can inspire you to just go for it and enjoy the ride. 

Whether it is a trip to Marrakesh or to the doctor, 
there will definitely be surprises, but also good memories for you and your kids to cherish forever
I love it when I overhear the boys playing in the living room and inventing Playmobil stories inspired 
by their most recent trips. They might forget some of the smaller details, 
but each vacation definitely shapes who they will become

So get your passports and sunscreen ready, this week I'm taking you to Honolulu!
